DHS CLASS OF 1969 - The Memorial Bench Project Story
Several years ago, Class of 1969 Reunion Committee voted to collect funds to purchase an engraved paver stone for a memorial wall at Bronco Field on Fulton St. We had enough to purchase a class paver stone. THEN… DHS on Fulton was going to close and the new campus would be on N. Bonnie Brae. So we held on to the funds and waited.
For our 55 year Reunion, we contacted Joel Hays, DHS Principal, for a new memorial project. His suggestion? A memorial bench! So, that’s the new plan!
Byron presented the project needs at the Reunion party and thru immediate & promised donations combined with the reserved funds, we have enough to order the bench!
We used the recommended company in North Carolina that provides excellent quality benches. Denton ISD will install the 8-foot metal bench once delivered. Estimated delivery is approximately 40 Business Days once payment is received. Bench location will be in the athletic area bus circle where athletes load up for out of town events. How cool is that?
